Imane grew up in Rabat, Morocco, where she earned a dual Baccalauréat in French and Arabic. Prior to entering the PhD program at Yale University in the fall of 2014, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and French from Mount Holyoke College. During her undergraduate years, she conducted research in cancer bioengineering, while also exploring topics in 19th and 20th century French literature, particularly relating to medicine and gender.

At Yale, she hopes to pursue her previous literary interests, as well as broaden her understanding of literary history and post-colonial theory.
