Madison Mainwaring graduated from Middlebury College in 2013 with a B.A. in English and American Literatures, where she wrote an honors thesis on narrative and historiography in the novels of William Faulkner. She earned an M.A. in Histoire et civilisations from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, studying female spectatorship and the Romantic ballet at the Paris Opera. At Yale she will pursue her interests in 19th-century French cultural history, feminism, Romanticism, and the intersection of dance and literature.
