The symposium, (De)constructing the Spectacle: Cultural Memory, Heritage Practice, and Urbanism in the UAE, will take place on September 14th at Yale. The presentations explore questions related to museum and heritage practice, urbanism, and national identity, with a regional focus on the United Arab Emirates; the conference is the result of original research carried out in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, during the Spring semester as part of Kishwar Rizvi’s travel seminar Museum & Nation.
