Morgane Cadieu’s co-edited special issue “Beaches & Ports”

June 14, 2021

Morgane Cadieu (Yale) and Hannah Freed-Thall (NYU) have just published the special issue “Beaches and Ports” in Comparative Literature. This work complicates the opposition between the two coastal settings, and makes a case for the littoral zone as a space in which to rethink comparative literature and the environmental humanities. The seven essays explore textures, labor, and ruins; social mobility and migration; marine life, geological time, carbon capitalism, and the history of sensation. Contributors include: Hannah Freed-Thall (introduction); Ada Smailbegović, Sarah Ann Wells, Harris Feinsod, Maxwell Uphaus, Thangam Ravindranathan (articles); Morgane Cadieu (afterword).
